i know i sound like an idiot please dont flame but my speedo hasnt worked since the sr swap i went from an auto to a 5 speed i went out and baught a new vss from napa it didnt come with the pinion. my question it should i have used a ka 5 speed pinion or does it make a diffrence if i used the sr pinion. i ween threw cheeck all wiring and it all seams to be right is there a signal i can check at the ecu. or is it simply because i used the sr pinion instead of the ka pinion.

Im guessing you have a S14 chassy. You need the S14 chassy Speed Sensor and you need to check your wiring. Sounds to me your speed sensor isnt wired correctly or the speed sensor isnt working. Or could be the cluster is burnt out but I doubt it.

thats what im saying i bought a new 95 speed sensor and put it in. i called the company that did the wiring and they said they didnt touch the speed sensor wiring. so me using the sr pinion wont affect it.

Engine wiring is totally seperate from speedo wiring. You should check to see if you have the proper speedo wiring (its only two wires).

You can use the SR or KA speedo pinion, they have the same number of teeth.

check to see if the plugs for the speedo subharness are connected. they should have a connector on the engine side of the fusebox.
