I'm a NISSAN guy & like all nissan guy's (like me) I'm not happy until my garage looks like a sport car dealership!!! I've had (had to sell) a 1990 486rwhp 300zx twin turbo, S13 (BS) drift car and still have my 468rwhp S14 time attack car!

Anyway I wanna get a newer Nissan, and since I don't care for the technology & automatic in the GTR. I'm looking at either a 2005-06 350Z convertible or 2010 370Z sport package (or convertible this summer )

What would you guys pick? I already have an idea of the rims (advan RS-D 20x8.5 & 20x10) & performance parts (hks exhaust, JWT intake, Rotora brakes-sponsorship) I really wanna get a convertible, BUT i'm afraid that if I get the coupe I'll regret it later. Living in michigan I only get to drive a sports car around 6 months. if anyone wants to weigh in that would be very helpful, AS i am undecided on the path to take.

I've nevered owned a car with less then 75K miles so the idea of owning a car from the beginning appeals to me, BUT the 10K difference is ALOT of parts I can get!

I just am torn PLEASE help me out!!!

Like I m sure you know it all depends on how much money you wanna spend. I say either get a 350 coupe since you live up north and have a lot of bad weather, and then put a lot of aftermarket items on it too. Although the 370 is very nice also...

How soon/quickly are you looking to buy?I personally like an 06 rev up or 07+ 350z.The 370z is more powerful and is much newer. The problems with owning a brand new car, especially in the first 2yrs of its run is recalls and problems. The first 2yrs of ANY car there are always recalls for something, and something is just about guaranteed to go wrong. To you want to be dealing with that? I'm not bashing the 370z by any means as I will probably buy one in about 3 or 4yrs.You can buy a hardly used 08 350z or even a brand new 08 350z at rock bottom pricing right now. No one is selling cars right now, many places are offering 0 down and 0% financing if you get an 08 model. I don't know what the offers are on the 350z's, but knowing dealerships want the 370z, I'm pretty confident you can work a great deal. You get: new car, all the bugs worked out, last year of any car is usually the best, and low price.

if you plan to modify it get the 350z, no point buying a warranty that you're gonna void, and if your liek to make high hp cars the 350 already has the aftermarket support, if you get the 370 you'll be left doign a lot more fab work as far as I knwo there is not aftermarket forced induction available for the 370z .......yet

and convertibles suck, more weight, less chassis regidity, unless you are a doctors wife or having a midlife crissi and want to show off your bald spot stick tot he coupe

seriously what is with old guys and vonvertibles? does the convertible causet he bald spot? ro does the bald spot cause the desire for a convertible? guess it's a chicken and egg kind of discussion

and they are called "WHEELS!" sorry *<chris rock voice>"rems" is something of a pet peeve fo mine

1. Get the 370. You'll like the new dash, better quality and more powerful engine.

2. Don't get the convertible if you are planning to go "performance parts" on it. I did that, and, frankly, wouldn't do it again. The convertible 350z JUDDERS on roads (not stiff enough), is TOO MUCH overweight even compared to a coupe 350z that isn't that light either.

3. 20 inch wheels? You're messing up the whole "performance" part again. You'd be losing a lot of ground. Get 18" or 19" at most. However, if you have the cash to get forced induction from the get-go, it doesn't make THAT much difference.

4. If you are going for some F/I, get the 370z and go find STILLEN or GREDDY and get yourself some free turbos or exhausts. They still need 370s for part testing... which gets you the part for free.

5. No. 4 is useless. Remembered you're in Michigan and not California.

6. If you do have the money... seriously... GET THE GT-R! You will not NOTICE it's an automatic and that "technology" will make you the fastest guy on a track by far! It's useable power, it's safe and tested, and it's a monster of a car. Can't see the reasoning with not getting a GT-R. If you have the money... BUY IT. You'll smoke Porsches and trail $300k Ferraris.

7. Disregard numbers 1 through 6.

the car in question is a 2006 350z convertible 28K miles $17500. Now 20in. wheel are big....so maybe 18in., BUT I dont wanna do performance to the car. just rims, brakes, cold air, exhaust & aluminum radiator. I just want a fun hassle free car to enjoy between racing. Plus It would be nice to go on drives with the wife places. I the other had "IF" i was having a midlife crisis I would have bought a 1996 red viper down the road from me ($24500) the skyline I don't want! The transmission issues with the transmission are costing people $22,000 to fix, Let not forget the $6000 factory brake job! F*** that!!!the 370Z "sport package" is the other one I'm looking at. Sticker is $31,475for that I get the hot (sexxxxy) color blue, volk 19in. rims, rev/match transmission...Blah, blah!! So there is only around a $14K difference . But it's enough to make me think!!! With the left over I can get other fun stuff!

Have you driven either the 350Z or the 370Z? I would base your decision based on your test drive if you haven't driven both cars yet.

either way you win, as long as you buy a Z.

No...I haven't driven either. I turn 30 in june And drove this to the dealership:and they wouldn't let me test drive one! which sucks because, THAT is the only nissan dealer around here for 300miles. I wrote a letter to nissan. BUT don't think they will get back to me! I would expect that from a chevy dealer, BUT not a nissan one!!! It's not a GTR!

They wouldn't let you test drive a Z? They must not want the sell very much. I wouldn't have bought my Z if I hadn't gotten to test drive it first.

Wow thats crazy that they didn't let you test drive it. I went to the Nissan Dealership around here just looking and i told them i was interested in Used 350Z's, they told me they didn't have any used ones but they had some left over New ones and they let me take it out so i could get a feel for what the 350Z's are about. Throttle Response in those things are ridic, but i HATED the baseball size shift knob. Hope you find a better Nissan Dealer. Oh i'm also 21 and kinda look younger so i was VERY surprised they let me test drive.
