i didnt get any help from the last post on my car not starting, i'll just figure o one knew the answer or had any ideas., so here's the deal now. ive bought a new distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, power transistor, and a new piece of harness for the lil black box. Still no fire, i unplugged the maf, and got some spark, what the hell?

You'll have to excuse me because I don't have any experiance w/these D/DE swaps. Are you getting spark at all(w/or w/out maf)? How are you testing? If you think it's not enough spark, you'r gonna need to find a shop/or someone with an oscilloscope & HV probe to properly diagnose your ECU->power transistor->coil outputs.

Either that or find some spare parts and start swapping out one at a time. Truly is an odd problem, what maf do you have, dohc one? Dohc/Sohc maf is not directly interchangable im sure your aware.

well. i do have a de maf, the kae doesnt even plug up. and i only get spark when the maf is not plugged in. i get spark both from a secondary spark test, and because it kicks and or backfires, only when the maf is unplugged

swap the battery out with a good one and make sure it's getting enough juice.

When you replaced the distributor, i assume you removed the whole thing, gear and all out, right?

Your timing is off now. Thats probably why she is back firing at you. You will need to have it done by a shop or someone who knows better.

i cranked the car to tdc and installed the distributor the with the marks and everything lined up as per the chiolton's. but ive installed distributor's and stuff all the time. this is my first 240 though and i was kind of frustrated by the time i bought a new dizzy. ok answer me this with the car at tdc and the marks on the distributor lined up correctly is the dizzy supposed to go in at an angle or what is the correct installation position? because i dont see anything on the car that tells me where to line up the distributor?

Yes you do have to install at an angle, from what i see in my FSM. But the angle you use is decided by the angle of the ditributer gear.

Just rotate back enough to lock the gear teeth together and slide inward twisting the distributor so the marks match up correctly. Not to much different from other cars' installation.

Um, maybe i dont know what you mean by "dizzy" and i appologize if it seems like im talking down to you... or just seem clueless.
