Im starting a rebuild on a ka head and then going to the block and then buying a turbo...

The head arrives tomorrow. I plan on getting it hot-tanked and checked for cracks right away (It was an ebay head  )

Anyway, all the searches I do on google for ka24de internals, etc... doesn't exactly come up with a lot of suppliers or variations in components. I see the JWT cams, ecus, and adjustable sprockets all over the place. I found the JWT valve spring retainers (good item) but what else is there? I'm not having a lot of luck finding things like forged pistons or upgrade rods, etc...

I plan on having most of the stock internals micro balanced (house of balance) but I'd still like to see some options to research now before I need to make a choice when a good part is staring me in the face.

ok enough of this, my question is...

Who/where is a good supplier of actual internals such as forged pistons, titanium rods, high tension valve springs, etc...

-and 1 more-

Also, do any of you that have rebuilt a KA before have any input on what bearings to use considering this thing is being built for boost, I mean do you just use the stock bearings or is there something else out there?

thanks guys

i just saw this posted in another thread, :rolleyes sorry to ask without reading...:thinker

Any other places guys??

But THANKS!!:ylsuper

--update--just curious, who exactly runs this site?? I mean for someone that sells parts, they dont go to any lengths to identitfy themselves. And the prices....

$89 for a felpro headgasket?? the first link off of google takes you to the same gasket for $31 or $45.

And whats with the valve description, <cut_paste>The nitrided layer is adhered to the base material at a microscopic level, so it does not "flake" or brake due to impacts with the pistons.</cut_paste>

impact with the pistons???!!!! thats not something I was aware valves were designed to do...

Oh yea, $289 for arp head studs??? Seems like those cost me about $100 for my VW...

...oh wait, i just found them for $69 and $79

Ohh, nevermind, look what I found...check the url...

http://attila.sdsu.edu/~mmikse...e.htm

heres the full url in text_http://attila.sdsu.edu/~mmikse/domains/ka24de/arp/arpka24de.htm_

Thats a San Diego State University student webpage. Really impressive, I've got my own one at userpages.umbc.edu/~markt1never new I could split domains off of this type of deal tho...

think I'll pass on being raped by a college student....especially a dumbass, greedy mf'er like this one.

:Werd

at least this gave me some ideas on what name brands of parts to go looking for.$289 HEAD STUDS

his prices on some things are decent, on other things not so much. I know for a fact that I can pick up the ENTIRE felpro gasket set (like, every gasket in the engine- upper and lower) for around $100 at my local auto parts store. Then again, the price on the Ross pistons isnt bad at all - I got mine through that site - and the service was decently quick and everything...

Just like anything else, you gotta shop around.

As far as finding internals, all the main companies make parts for the KA. You can get JE, Pauter, Ross, Eagle, whatever you want. Uhmmm I'm not so sure on sites, but look around- Ill post if I remember some places that have em

yea, i figured some things arent too bad. $499 for forged pistons sounds about right... I don't mean to come on here and start a flame war, but damn....$289 head studs??? I'll keep looking, but again... I do appreciate the help!!!

Oh yea heres the link for that whole felpro gasket kit @ $102http://www.pickproparts.com/Pa...=5416

you have to enter the year, make model, etc...pick the Gasket-Head Set in the options

Seeing as ARP doesn't exactly stock or carry KA24DE head studs, or rod and main bolts... it's a reasonable price.-Jeff

Valves are not designed to handle impact with pistons, but the manufacturer of our valves, Supertech, went to great lengths to come up with a nitrided layer design that resists flaking and other damages should the valve ever collide with the piston whatever the reason may be.

...oh wait, i just found them for $69 and $79[/quote]$100 is for the VW head studs only. $289 is actually for both the ARP head studs and main studs. These studs are custom made for the KA, and ARP charges more than they do for their "off the shelf" studs. Our competition sells the head and main stud set for $450. At $289, it's a great deal.

The website is always up, and does the job well.

I feel we've greatly contributed in an effort to support the previously neglected KA24 community with the best engine internals money has to offer. Despite these very inappropriate comments, you can still always count on getting nothing but the very best service and highest quality parts from us, and at the best prices anywhere. Our passion to continue serving the KA24 community is always present, and without you, the customers, we wouldn't be here today. Those who have purchased from us, can tell you about our customer service and quality of our parts. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach me at [email protected].

Are they really custom made? I remember reading on FA someplace that they were actually for another application and that they just happened to fit...? I suppose I should beleive you over some random guy on a forum, but I figured I'd ask anyways.

Good defense though man - thats cool that we've got the store owners ON nico, reading what customers say and listening to their concerns. Good show.

BTW, who says there's anything wrong with the stock headbolts???

Have been proven to over 400rwhp and 400rwtq even though they were re-used!!!

And stock blocks, with stock headbolts, have seen +300rwhp many times, and for many years in most cases...and haven't failed (allowed the head to lift).

I'd cross those off your build list, and just buy OEM.

Just food for thought... - Brian

ok, ok, here it is...

PARDON ME. I was out of line. I've just seen to many rip off artists on the internet not to be suspicious. Combine what looks like a student website with very little actuall contact information, and my natural tendancy to speak my mind regardless.... you get the idea.

p0rn, I've seen your posts on here before and you've never struck me as a bad or misinformed/misguided person. Had I been aware this was your site, I would have checked my tounge, err. fingers....

so instead of deleting/editing my previous posts, I'll leave it here with my public apology. I'll continue to shop around, and if your parts/prices are as good as you claim, I may send some orders your way.

truely, I do appologize, I've just seen one too many scams....
