I just recently sold my civic and am looking for a 95+ 240sx.

Once I get one, Im interested to know what options I will have to turbo, different kits etc., how much boost I can push safely.

As soon as I get the car I want to turbo it, I have the money, and im ready.

Also please i'm very open to hear everyones opinion on which kit to get etc..

Thanks alot-vyse

p.s. long live nissan!

i dont have a turbo 240, i have a turbo 200, when i make the switch to 240, I'm either going to use an HKS 3037, or a new Garrett Ballistics T03/T04S, like the one used in the CTC motorsports SR turbo kit, either one is good for 400whp, what power level are you looking for and how much $$$

I respect anybody who makes the decision to buy a real car. (nissan) Hondas are great all motor cars, but it takes too much work, from what i have seen from friends to build a reliable forced induction motor, they simply werent designed for boost, and you can only make a N/A car so fast.

you mean like the 900hp formula one engines right?:p

anyways, congrats, and you'll get different opinions on different subjects from everyone. what did you want opinions on?

exhaust? intake? turbo units? turbo KITS? intercoolers?

narrow it down.

or check my little atlanta 240 page listed in my sig for things I;'ve done. I like those things :)

I agree...use the search. If you want opinions on what turbo's work with what all you have to do is read a bit. We don't have to be replying to you personally. An opinion is an opinion...

All of your questions can probably be answered on this front page for TurboKA's.

You got to let us know what exactly the car is going to be intended for, street, strip, autox? The you have to decide how radical you want to get with it and how much you want to spend. If you want to get a turbo and everything right away, I would suggest you check out FMax or something of the likes for a turbo kit which will definately get your started. The stock KA is good for 15-ish lbs of boost on stock internals, but with a good fuel system.

I'm being realistic, who do you know that could afford a 900hp F1 engine, and please include what car they would put it in, thanks

george, ive had a nissan 300zx as my first car... my civic wasn't even touched, just swaped an LS in my hatch for fun, did nothing else... a 4 banger rear wheel drive car sounds like alot of fun and ive always liked nissan better.... now if anyone actualy has an opinion that i care to read instead of all these rants, have at you

thanks-vyse

Ok...

Im really just going to turbo the KA in there wit around 12-15psi... then nothing more then the essentials for a turbo car(fuel managment, turbo timer, guages etc..) and a nice exhast system that suits the turbo, and ill worry about other mods further down the line

Basicly, I just want to know my options for a turbo kit for a 1995 KA engine.

Thanks

if your planning on running 12 to 15 psi, please build the engine. Stock internals can take alot... but for how long? To do that kind of boost on a stock bottom end will require extreme fuel tuning. If you don't want to do internals keep it LOW! For the sake of your engine keep it down or build it.

Hmm, sapix that sounds feasable... how much boost would you think I could safely push without touching the engine?

vyse, from my research I decided to go with about 7-10PSI with 370cc injectors (stock fuel pressure). 12PSI is doable (with bigger injectors or by rising fuel pressure) but it depends on the condition of your motor. It is my opinion that more than that will be pushing it.

Thanks huguetpj, that helped quite a bit...

Now all I need is a specific kit and where to get it =)

you could either go custom as I'm doing (check out my site), or buy the kit from NSport or FMAX

http://www.nsport.com/http://www.f-max.com/

For the small amount of research I did on kits, the NSport seems to me to be the better setup for the $$$ you pay.

But you can piece out the kit yourself for much less.

and I forgot... there are people out there selling the kits for less than the advertised price on NSport's and Fmax's sites. Maybe somebody knows of someone... the idea of the custom kit was edge in my mind long ago so I haven't paid much attention to posts regarding these sellers.

I'll be making pretty much a completely custom turbo kit, my own intercooler, turbo, manifold, ECU, nijectors(370cc drop in at 7psi to 10psi), fuel pump, etc.

I'll have to get all the intercooler piping made and stuff, so that might be a pain in the ***....

Exar... it's seems we are going down the same track. Good luck.

Have you given thought to the possibility of doing the IC piping with radiator hoses? I haven't researched much so I might be talking out my a.. And of course they look like sh.. compared to aluminium or stainless but it's a possibility, isn't it?

my friend also told me about a haltech ecu that he said was worth the money on a turbo'd KA... just verifying this, as its a pretty pricey ecu to get and tune

the haltech is top of the line... if you have the money by all means go standalone with a Haltech or some other standalone system

Well i've been readin about the haltech and the AEM and im getting tons of mixed reviews =)

I plan on running off of the stock/semi-stock setup.

a AFC and AVC with new injectors, pump, and dyno reburn of the ECU with a Z32 MAF hshould be more than adequate for 7-10psi.

and the itnercooler piping, I guess you could, but I'm getting some pretty expensive stuff for ym setup, ball bearing turbo, and a custom mild steel manifold, allong with an apex-i hbrid intercooler.....

so I'll either get the pipes bent from alluminum or get a kit and make that work.-chet
