Ok so I have a 93 coupe. rear tires are 50% tread left. and my brand new literally in condition as well 90 hb, w. 90% tread left on rear's... I cant even peel out like I can in the 93. driving the 93 liek when I get on the gas I peel out from 1st to second and a little chirp from 2nd to third. but in the 90 omg its liek a ****ing choo choo train it chuggs and chuggs. like I floor it the engine is working REALLY hard. but it seems not all the power is getting to the wheels. and also for example. today its rainging its so wet outside I drive the 93 aroudn the block and I cant even get traction. I drive the 90 and I cant even peel out revving it to 5 RPM and dumping the clutch. I tried a lot of the FAQ things for a sluggish 240 but nothing seem to be working. please help me im really upset that my car is a POS. and im not new to cars so give me somthing to try and Il go outside and do it.

Maybe bad clutch? It seems like the most logical thing to me.

easiest way to do a compression check would be to get a compression gauge... A leak down test will show things that compression might miss so if you have an access to compressed air go with a leak down test.

I would make sure that all tune ups are really done..

its looks like traction also plays here. if u want to peel out or even hear a chirp, try swapping the tires. also any modification on both cars? slap an intake/exhaust on the 90 and it will respond faster.

SOHC can be slugs sometimes. There are exceptions some motors are just faster. The DOHC should be faster but the SOHC shouldn't be too far behind. The SOHC tends to not pull as hard top end. My friends SOHC was faster than my DOHC, stock for stock, I can't explain why. Normal tune up may help along with a compression check, to see if its anything serious.

well I shoudl be getting a SR20 soon and if the engien is going bad. im going to take off the rev limiter and floor it in first gear for abotu 30 miles. that or put liek rats in my block or somthing. somthing to take the anger out that my past 240 caused me "93 coupe", tahts if nobody wants it. il charge you guys a 6 pack of beer for the motor when I swap it.

Whoa, i dont know about that.

Just jump right in and get an SR20, right? Not so easy. Its not like they just "drop right in" you know. And the problem with your motor could easily be found if you just had some patience to deal with it. An SR motor should be treated with care and if you cannot handle a simple KA motor, i dont know how you plan to handle a JDM motor with little or no US tech support available without spending lots of cash.

um. my dad has a S14 w/ a S14 SR swap. I know what im talknig about its jsut SOHC is so ****ing ghetto I think its the compression. im just saying. I think KA engines are good but there is allways easy fix problems with them which are good rather have those than big problems im jsut gonan buy a SR20 I know more about those than I do KA's.

HAHAHA, silly redrum, you always overreact to so many of your problems w/ your 240's, hahaha.

You never told me your dad has an s14, nice.

good luck w/ the sr20. I still think you should troubleshoot your problem. You're bound to run into more problems with the sr20 once you get it in. Our cars are old.
