But there is one thing that most people over look. The price of repairs.
When you are looking for a used car that is 5 years or older, ASSUME that every suspension part has to be replaced. If the car is known to have engine problems, assume that the engine must be replaced.
If you would do these things^^^ immediately after buying the car, you would find that your money actually fixed the problem. Because you are not continuosly chasing around a problem. Just replace everything at once, it will save you money in the long run!!!
Exactly what he said ^
Issues WILL come up when you by a used car.
I bought my car privately, I had the owner agree to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic of my choice. Since i was out of state, i simply took it to Firestone and had them do an over-all inspection. I found out from them that i needed rear rotors/pads replaced, and a ball-joint replaced. I test drove the car on the highway, took it up to 90mph, and i bought it because the stuff that was wrong was normal wear/tear. The point i'm making is that you didn't take any precautions, because they are in your best interest. You must not take anyones' word for it! As soon as you mention to the person selling the car that your'e taking the car to have it inspected before you buy it, it puts them a notch below you--because whatever they said to you will be tested by an independent source.
It sounds like you had alignment issues, also, if you did research on 300zx's you'd find they have a very high part replacement cost--they were in the high $30k's when new.
Sorry this had to happen to you, but like you said, you bought a car from a "shady place..."
