I understand the relationship between offset and backspacing and all that jazz. But has anyone come up with a table/template for wheel sizes that will fit the 240 specifically? How does it all come together? For example we know there are clearance differences with or without coilovers. We know stock offset. But what about distance from the coilover/spring? What size wheel will be Flush, extended, or tucked in reference to the fender? Largest wheels that can fit in front without rubbing? 18x8 in front? 18x9.5 in back? With an offset of ??? and backspacing of ??? This can get complicated for the average everday guy to find out. So maybe a chart or something. There are so many dimensions involved it makes me dizzy.

Example: (not actual)

S14 with CoiloversWheel size--Width---offset----backspace----Dist to coilover/fender215/45-17 7in +34 ??? 1 cm Flush235/40-18 8in +32 ??? 5mm +1mm205/50-16 7in +40 ??? 3cm -1 cm235/40-18 9.5in +32 ??? Rubs in front/rear

Does anyone have the info to put this in the Suspension section? Or should we just call TireRack?

Man I wish they had something like this. But to the best of my knowledge they don't. I've been wanting to ask for a definitive chart for a while but there are a lot of people saying "you won't know until you try them on" and no real answers. I hope this thread gets a response though. if you find a chart...

a good rule of thumb is to keep the inner edge of the wheel less than 5mm closer to the stock strut, using the offset calculator in the FAQ...(for the front) for the rear, you can go as high as 12mm closer.

you can fit a really wide wheel on 240's, but most require fender flares to fit properly(since the offset must be low to clear suspension peices)

the widest wheel I like to see is 8" wide on the front, maybe a 27mm offset or so, and a 9-9.5" rear, 32mm offset or a bit less maybe.-chet

Good info there. Are these widths in 18" or 17" diameters??

Doesn't matter... the offset doesn't change when you move up or down in wheel size. :)

I'd suggest a 17" wheel... it helps to clear most brake and suspension mods yet is lighter than the 18" wheel, which means less unsprung weight. The 17" wheel also looks better in my opinion.

yeah, I had 17 with 195/40's but the sidewall was too thin. I couldve still gone to a thicker tire which wouldve had a much better ride quality. I was bending rims badly with the 40's. If I went to 18" I would have to stay thin and I would dent them as badly or worse. Hows a 17x9.5 in the rear and a 17x8 in the front sound?? I have no idea what offset would be or the sidwall hight. Something comparable to a 205/45-17 sidewall hight.

225-45-17 or 235-45-17 or even 235-40-17 front, 245-40-17 or 255-40-17 rear(255 will fit best)...

thats my recoomendation. search around for offsets, I've given out the rules of thumb many, many times.-chet
