ok so i went ahead and upgrade to walbro 255 fuel pump with 300zx fuel filter since my car is running on the lean side (the spark plugs were kinda white, and very clean) and i'm looking to gain a little extra HP too to carry my new vlsd (trust me the sluggish is noticable for some reason, but it feel good when i launch it) i'm also running on 92 octane/premium with NGK v-power spark plug, so i decided to advance my timing by about 5 degree (recomended by a lot of search and latest article in TRP/TPR) but after i did it, when my car sits at idle, once in a while it will hesitate, the rpm drops a little and cough, but when i drive it, the pick up is noticeably better, and it does not hesitate when i drive, i turn to my mechanic (very creditable he been working on cars forever, and he knows my car inside out) i asked him what he thinks, he said that my timing is too advance, and after he drove my car he is positive that my car is not getting enough air through the maf, so the computer inturn is not putting in fuel, that is true because the stock intake pipe is connected to this small bottle of air behind the radiator, and it is after the maf (which i guess is to give the engine that extra air it needed) and my hot air intake does not use this air bottle, he also told me that getting larger diameter rear wheel (upgrade the tire) and lower the front tire size will help me get over the sluggish feeling i get from the vlsd (which corvettes or high end sports car do), i'm going to try that out as soon as i wear out my tires, as for the lack of air problem, my mechanic told me to figure it out on my own because he have a full lot of cars that actually have real problems....now i've search on it before and i've check my stock maf and its clean, i've disconnect my aiv valve for awhile now so i'm not sucking exhaust gas from it, i've retighten all my intake component so it wont leak, next thing i want to do is upgrade the MAF to the 300zx (but i want to have some second opinion on it because it cost a lot), something i'm doing immidiately is raising the rear of my hood and adding a hood scoop of some sort to get better airflow through the engine bay (ofcourse there's going to be a hole under the hood scoop) i think this is long enough for now, i appreciate any genuine opinion, because i admit the fact that my car is slow but i refuse to admit that it has hit its limitthanx

are you turbo? cuz a 255lph pump on a NA engine seems like a bit overkill...no?

Doesn't the stock pressure regulator keep the pressure at 34psi, no matter what the flow rate of the pump is?

well i change the fuel pump because mine went south, and i thought i might as well match it up with a new fuel filter, but the problem is not getting the fuel there, but the maf is not letting enough air through so the computer is not letting the fuel in, i have cleaned my maf sensor when i did my tune up, so i dont know wether its my maf that is the problem or is it just my intake not taking in enough airdoes having a larger cone help, or should i go back to my stock intake, or should i get a larger mafany one know how much the stock maf can handle as far as horse power wise (the 300zx is suppose to handle up to 300 horse power before it reach its limit)i've been thinking that maybe the only way i can get my car to go any faster is actually boosting it or build the block up, if that's true it sukcs big ****s

its a bit more than 200.. I think its around at 240 it maxes out...

If there was an intake leak you would actually run rich because your computer would think your getting that amount of air that the MAF sensored but it leaked out... so more fuel than needed.

If the stock intake tube had that "air breather" thing after the MAF then your getting more air than your computer senses so it would actually run LEANER...
