I've tried searching and all that good stuff so mods don't yell at me. I recently purchased a 90 300zx n/a 5 spd. I'm more fond of z31's but the car was gorgeous and an easy trade to make for my s13. I've read a tt swap in a 96 is )for lack of a politically correct vocabulary) retarded due to obd 2 electronics. However I have a 90. How difficult would a vg30dett swap be with an ecu coming with the engine? Would my n/a 5 spd be strong enough for say 400whp?

A TT swap all depends on how mechanically inclined you are and your access to tools. If you're pretty good with cars, you can have it done in a weekend (assuming you have all the parts). I'd urge you to sell the NA and buy a TT over doing a swap though, because it's cheaper and easier.

I'm extremely mechanically inclined and get metal fab done for free. Mounts, driveshaft, fitment issues are all free for me. How will a 1,400 engine and stage 3 clutch plus whatever extra add up to more than say 8k for a tt car?

I recomend against doign a swap, for the cost of the parts needed and the labor invovled, save youself time and money and get a TT, they keep getting cheaper and the parts do not! if you must do a swap get a front cut, not only does this help ensure you get allt he aprts needed that wouldn't be included wiht a pallet motor, the body also serves to protect the engine during shipping so you are less likely to have broken accessories sensors oil pan etc,, also when you buy a front cut you get the odometer so you knwo how many miles is on the engine you got, if you buy a pallet motor you are buying a miles unknonw engine and anyone who tells you it's low miles is stupid or lying, search and see how many of us got bad pallet motors

keep in mind when you guy the pallet motor you still need;
intercoolers
hard pipes
oil cooler
as well as anything taht came broken or missing

and the trannies are the same, there are some design differences to allow for the larger flywheel otherwise the same, you need a shim to move the starter out otherwise the n/a trans is a direct fit

thanks alot buddy. I've been taken your advice for a while now and you never steer me wrong. It's still to gorgeous and low miles of a car to pass up I'll just make it a reliable dd and sell it for like 3k dollars and make 2500 profit. Yeah get back to me about that et if you want I could swing back by it'll only cost me 2 bucks I'm sure the car was riunning recently interior was semi fresh and body was pretty damn good. Haha I'll buy and ship it to you for a vg30et I'm having a hard time finding one. PM me if you gots more questions yo.
