I got the blue led lights from Vleds.com. I got DE3175 bulbs per another thread for all the bulbs in my Rogue. Well, this morning I popped off one side of the frosted plastic cover of the map/reading lights(the driver side) with a butter knife so that I could change out the bulbs. I can't seem to get the original bulb out of the socket. Do I unscrew the bulb? Or does it pop out? I tried twisting it and grabbing and pulling, but I was doing it gingerly, so as not to break the bulb in my hand. It didn't budge. I gave up and tried putting the plastic cover back on and can't seem to get that back on right either, as it has to be a certain way in order for me to be able to push it in to turn the light on. Does anyone have any hints, tips, or tricks on what I'm doing wrong and what I should be doing? I don't want to bring the Rogue to the dealership for this. I already feel stupid enough for not being able to change a bulb.

Also, BTW, the led bulbs I received from vleds.com look NOTHING AT ALL like the original bulb. Will they fit? I'm kinda confused.

Here is a link to what I purchased: http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/Dome ... 2-1-2.html I can't see how these would install in the socket that I saw with the bulb in it. Do I just put one end of this LED light into the socket? LOL, I am soooo confused :) Please help!!!!

Anyone? Or, if I bring it to an Advanced Auto Parts, Auto Zone, etc...will they do it for me? Keep in mind, I didn't buy the bulbs from them. Thanks!

Take the whole plastic thing out...this way you can see the bulb from the top. Just pry it out with screw driver and then pry the bulb out by pushing metal contact piece to the side. Led bulb WILL FIT but it's a little bit bigger. If you experience trouble with installing led bulb DO NOT push it with screw driver because it is easy to damage. Just push metal piece to the side and fit new bulb in. Make sure it is working before putting all back together because LED bulb has + and - so if it doesn't work then just flip it the other way.

I recently changed the bulbs in my Rogue and ran into some issues also. First, the map lights are actually a #194 wedge bulb, not a #3175. Those 3175 "Bullet" type blulbs are used in the "center" dome light and the cargo light. As recommended take off the entire plastic cover from the map light and pull the blub straight out then replace. I bought my "amber" Sylvania 194 blubs at an Autozone for like $3.00. Not happy with the output though and am now looking for LED's.

Did both my Dome and Map with blue LEDs from Ebay. Dome and Map are different types of bulbs. Mine came out fairly easily. LEDs working pretty good as far as the output. I was thinking they all are same type of bulbs. Luckily Ebay LEDs came with all type of connectors. Good luck. Its a really easy mod and so far everyone has been complimenting it. Blue looks great at night.

Ok, I'm having a bulb changing disaster. After work tonight, I was finally able to get the driver side map bulb out. I now see what you guys mean about a "wedge" bulb. Well the led's I bought on vleds look NOTHING AT ALL like this bulb, but since someone earlier in this thread said they should fit anyway, I tried to get one end to go in. Well, I saw something blue light up(assuming the led), then all went black...including every other light in my car(the other map light and the overhead dome light). They won't come back on either. Did I do something really bad?!?!? I'm kinda freaking out now. I put the original bulb back in as I don't think those bullet shaped Led's from vleds are going to fit and at this point, I just want something to fit right.

So after messing up the front bulbs, I decided to check out the overhead dome light. Got that cover off very easily. Even got the bulb out easily and finally, something to go right. The bulb is the same as the led I have. So I'm in there trying to get the led bulb installed(it's not a socket, but 2 metal pieces on either end)....it's kind of a pain in the butt and it's not working and then all of a sudden I lose the bulb in the roof somewhere!!! I don't know where it went! There is space in the dome assembly and I can get my fingers in there a little, but I don't feel the led bulb. Now I don't know what to freaking do. This has all become way too much.

If I take the Rogue to dealership are they going to blame me and not fix the lights under warranty? I really hope I didn't void the warranty. Maybe I just blew a fuse? I don't know. Why do they have to make simple things like changing a freaking light bulb suck a pain in the arse?!?!

Globe9....don't need to freak out...I know what Phillipa going to say....as long as you don't do something which will cause the car to break down, it won't void the warrenty...(Did I say it right..we should know it by heart after Phillipa explaining it so many times....)

Globe9, I think you are just having a bad day with this. I got mine done in 10 min. Trust me, they really not that difficult. You could always look for someone to give you a second view at this. Could you post some pictures. We probably could give you better advice if we can actually see what you have.

Thanks for trying to calm me down....I really did have a bad day yesterday....decided to drink a beer and sleep on it. Not as freaked out today, but the lights still don't work. Neither map light, nor overhead dome light, or ignition light(I don't think...hard to tell in the daylight, but I don't think it's lighting up either.) I'm guessing a fuse, but I've been doing research online and can't find out what fuse I need to replace. I've gone to the service manuals and I see something called the BMI or something and that is what controls the lights that are out. Don't know what to do.

I disconnected negative battery terminal for 5 minutes based on something else I read. Didn't help. Anyone have any suggestions? Don't really feel like bringing to the dealership for something I might be able to do myself.

Thanks!

Yes Globe9, you have just blown the fuse. Just don't ask how I know ;-p.

The fuse to replace is, when you sit in the car, at about your left knee level, below the switches. Remove the panel, and on this panel, you will have an explanation on what fuse is what. You should also have a small black plastic tweezers attached close to the fuses, it is there to help you grab the fuse. I cannot remember if Nissan put some extra fuses, but you can go to your closest auto store and buy a box of fuses for cars, they are cheap (you need the mini fuses).

As for your LEDs lights, the one you got are ONLY for the Dome and the Cargo light. Don't try them on the map light or you will short the connection,... and blow the fuse.
You need #194 bulbs for the map lights, V-LED should have some for you.
Look at these ones:
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Corn ... 6-1-2.html
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/Dome ... 1-1-2.html

Cannot you have some help from one of your friend who is more mechanically inclined than you? No shame on that part, everybody has his strength and weakness.
When I don't know something, I like to learn by watching my friend in the know doing it at least once with me. That is how surgeons learn, you know.

Good luck.

I just received two LED bulbs that I ordered from a Canadian dealer in Canada with free shipping (paid $12 for 2 bulbs) with lifetime warranty, however I found out that the two bulbs they sent do not fit the map lights, they only work in the dome and cargo lights, even though the seller insists that they should also fit the map lights as well. They are completely different types of bulbs and I think he is going to send me the proper map bulb types for free soon.

The point being, these LED replacements just slide easily in exactly the same as the stock bulbs, if it appears they aren't the right size don't try to force them in.

The front map lights on the Rogue are a one-sided wedge-type bulb, whereas the dome and trunk lights are the two-sided fatter type of bulb - sorry I don't know the proper terms but that is my best description. This is a very easy and fun mod for the car, it took me 2 minutes to change out my dome bulb and the blue light is bright and looks great - it's just nice for a change.
