ok, I called myself being cheap and decided to do the rear disc brakes on my pathfinder since one of the wheels started scrubbing recently...

so..I got the bottom bolt of easy...but how does the top remove???I didn't see a torx screw..a bolt..nothing...its kindof a stub...i pried it..the top came off and there was a little grease inside of it...I got confused and put it all back together...so...

how does one do the rear disc brakes on a 92 nissan pathfinder

its a 92 SE 3.0V6..4WD Auto with 194k on the odo....

Ok, so I don't know much about 92 Pathfinders, but I have a 2002 Pathy, and it still has drum brakes on the back. Not having seen your truck, I'd be very surprised if it has discs on the rear wheels. Maybe you could post a pic? Anyone else with any ideas?

I was thinking the exact same thing, my 2001 LE pathfinder had drums on the rear, i would also be surprised from rear disc brakes.

hmm..well..mine definatly has rear disc brakes...I dunno..its the SE model

I went and bought the haynes manual which told me how to get the brakes off...I got the rear off and one of the brake pads were completly gone!!!!..so I replace it and put that side back together....

get to the other side...bolts on a little tight...give it a little muscle and it turns...I broke the stud....

so...I go out and drive it a little...the brakes grab and are not scrubbing anymore..but the fact that the whole pad was missing and the caliper was actually touching the brake disc worries me..since the one pad that I did take off was still in good shape..while the other was completly gone...

I also noticed that the side that I did replace..the whole area was much hotter than the other side....

SE models of the Pathfinder, at least through 94, have disc rear brakes. Most likely your caliper is stuck on one or both of the pins that it slides on. The caliper has to slide back and forth to equalize the brake pressure and spueeze the rotor. If the caliper sticks on the guide pins, a common problem, the brake pressure is applied from one side only, the piston side. That pad will wear out and the other one will not wear much. Hope this helps.

Good to know. Thanks.(Makes me wonder why they went back to drums after that.) Oh well.

WOW cheap Nissan bastards, were probably penny pinching because they were POOR at the time, so they cheaped us out with drums ~_~.
