ok heres whats going on.. i have a 95 nissan 240SX SE there is a rattle noise that is towards the front of the engine, and the car overheats... so when you drive the car just around the block like twice it already overheats.. so what i did was i

1) replaced the radiator cap

2) replaced the thermostat 3) replaced the radiator

4) replaced the water pump

5) and the fan clutch

now after all this was put in the cars check engine light now comes on??

now im stumped i dont know what to do i dont know if my engine will overheat still because i dont want to check if it will because of that check engine light...

so any help would be greatly appreciated...

i really need to find away to get rid of that check engine light so i can see if my car overheats... thanksguys =)

the rattle is probably the timing chain. could also be detonation if the car is too hot and too low octane is used. or it could be rod knock. there is lots of info if you search about it in this and the 240sx forums. your overheating is probably caused by air in the coolant system. do a search for "coolant bleeding" or something similar and you should be able to properly bleed the air out of the coolant.

It is likely that either the timing chain has sawwed a hole in the coolant channel on the front cover, or the gasket between the coolant channel and the front cover has failed.

The headgasket could also be the culprit, so I would run a compression test.
