ok guys last week my car just went dead i went and changed the batt fired it up and it charged just fine on my 50 mile trip to town but about half the way back it started to spit and sputter and then died i towed it home bought a new alternator and changed it ( which is a pain in the yeah you know ) that fixed the problem until this morning when i went to work and about 20 miles down the road it died again now my question is are there any known issues with this cars electrical system or did i just get a pos alternator the only reason i ask is because i dont want to pull it again if thats not the problem

What's it running like when it dies? How does it die? Are there any electrical loads like a sound system or anything we should look for?

Personally, I would go and check out all the electrical connectors if you suspect an electrical problem, make sure that they aren't corroded. That would be a good first step.

no problems with connectors i changed the cables when i got the car and the conectors when i changed the alt i havent gotten around to a sound system yet and the car will not stay running after i pull the cable so i am pretty sure its the alt and it runs about like it would if i pulled 3 spark plug wires off and tryed to drive

sounds liek you got a bad alternator, it happens, and wherever you got it will most likely test ti to confrim before giving you a new one, not a bad idea to have them test the battery as well while they are at ti, but a bad battery wouldn't cause it to die it just wouldn't hold a charge

Go for one of the 120amp... Quest?... ones. As for me, I replaced my stock amp with a WorldWide Automotive alternator for the Z31 from Autozone. Has a little dyno graph showing how much power it puts out, it was 85 amps. I don't know if the little dyno actually means anything, but it does put out alot more power than my old one. Old being emphisized, but I do have an efan and it is able to run the radio, all the lights, and the efan with no problem so it works for me.

Not sure where you would want to buy one from, I do most of my shopping in person. However, I will see if I can find that write-up I saw. If my memory serves me, it isn't too hard of a thing to do, but it does require cutting some material out of the bracket to fit the new alternator.
