Versa 101-

the nissan versa is an entry level vehicle. car buyers are drawn into showrooms by these entry level cars and the salesmen usually try to attract carbuyers with other deals etc. car dealers make absolutely no money on these cars. unless you buy a nissan versa for ......say.....18 19k. now i don't know about you all but entry level cars shouldn't be 18 19k. i purchased my versa with 20k miles for 12k. it has keyless entry and auto and power group. so for 12k i am happy. i could only afford 250 mo. loan payment. now for those out there that could afford way more but got a versa,,,,well....that's on you. one should always try to purchase what one can afford or one usually ends up disappointed. these buyers that can afford an altima should buy an altima..or a rogue. basically buy a nissan for the value and quality not for anything else. nissans have recently done a great job at styling and i see alot of altimas out there. buy what you can afford. if you have 19 20k to spend buy a mazda 5. i love that car. it looks like an extended matrix with 3 row seating....out.

That's only true if one considers a car an extension of one's...ego.

I bought a Versa because it was the most cost-effective way to take my rear end to work ten miles and back with a decent amount of comfort and convenience. I could have afforded a "better" car, but a $100,000 Mercedes wouldn't shorten my commute, and it take one HECK of a lot of luxury to justify spending $85,000 more on a fifty-minute-per-day commute.

I wanted to get an Altima, sent the wife to test drive one, she hated the Ultima and loved the Versa. Who am I to argue as she was going to be one driving it, mostly.I think the Versa is the "best bang for your buck" out there. And it's extremely safe to boot. Have you seen the crash tests on You tube?

I like the mazda 5, but the matrix is ugly and drives like a van. So i dont know what you mean? I was always attracted to the versa, style design power and comfort. Mainly gas economy. It is a little cheap, but its what i wanted, and i test drove a matrix and the mazda 5, and it just seemed like you got alot more for your money.

I see what you're saying. I overpaid for my Versa, and I knew it even before setting foot in the showroom. I could've bought a very nice used Murano, or a brand-new Altima for what I paid. However, I test drove the Versa, and I was sold. I chose the Versa for a lot of reasons. I am a field service computer technician, so the Versa provided me with plenty of cargo space, fuel mileage, great handling (these twisty, hilly New England roads are hell), and the SL package with CVT and ABS was exactly what I needed. What I don't understand are the droves of 16 year olds who are given these cars from their parents who immediately come to this forum and ask "Yo, zzup WTF LOL@!!! I wazn't to make car go fast LOL WTF OMG" basically, they all want to turn their Versas into rice rockets on an Autozone budget. Damn kids.

The funniest thing is the kids you describe usually have no clue about what actually determines 0-60 and focus on putting on the biggest spoiler, biggest watt speakers, add all sorts of weight, and then say OMG CAI top HP 10hp more!

The V is a great car, it was a choice between Mazda 3, Versa, Focus or the Civic. Got the Versa. I also overpaid, but its not a big prob, the only thing i dont like about it is the seats. They get uncomfortable as there is no lower back support on it. The Mazda 3s seats are great. One of the most comfortable seats I have ever sat on. Hmm time for a new seat

Funny . . . I was looking at the Mza 3 and didn't like the seating . . . especially rear leg room.

Woulda grabbed a Mazda 6 or maybe an Accord but "downsized" to the Versa and am obviously happy . . . even with the less-than-expected mileage.

I wanted to get a Mazda 3 but I didn't get 'approved' for a loan through Ford/Mazda. I said screw it and looked into a '08 Sentra & Versa. Would of prefered the Sentra 2.0 S, but the Versa SL was a better bang for your buck and bought that instead.

Ditto. And despite the marketing and conventional wisdom, every little bit doesn't always add up. It's not just here though. I'm also on a couple of BMW boards, and the folks there are willing to pay over $800 for a cold air intake despite all of the information and evidence online accessible right at their finger tips. To each his own I guess. Look on the bright side, in this economy, their spending habits isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Not necessarily. Not everyone who wants a nice car wants it to impress people.
