Ok, as ya'll know, I'm building up a DOHC KA for 400ish whp/wtq. I wanted to list the goodies I've selected and would like ya'll to review in case I'm missing something. This isn't a "hey look what I bought" thread, but just a "hey, help me make sure I'm not gonna forget a $13.00 part and blow my mill" thread.

Thanks in advance.

Block:

89.5mm bore Arias 8.8:1 pistons w/ chromoly ringsAMS Turbo240 forged and shotpeened billet rods w/ ARP2000 rod boltsARP head studs (10mm)ARP main studsClevite main/rod bearings

Head:

S13 Exhaust cams (248/248)Port match headScrape out combustion chambersMulti-angle valve grindFelpro Head set

Peripherals:

Stock underdrive pulleyNew waterpump/beltsUerethane-filled stock engine mountsNismo 160* T-statACT forged chromoly 9lb flywheelCeramic 4-puck clutch with light pressure plate (and new bearing and bushing, of course)New timing chains and tensioners/guides

The entire rotating assembly (pistons, rods, crank, flywheel, crank gear, underdrive pulley) will be weight matched and balanced. The parts will all be matched to the correct location and I'll re-assemble accordingly.

Keep in mind, the car is already turbocharged and has the usual stuff (FMIC, Battery reloc., Koyo radiator, etc.). I am running the T3/T04E .50 trim, .60 A/R comp. housing, .63 A/R turbine housing with a T-31 Stg 3 turbine. I'm certain that at around 17psi I can crank out the target power numbers.

Anything ya'll can think of that I'm missing (vital parts, not nice additions, such as ginormous valves, springs, etc.), please fill me in.

Thanks in advance!

Can I convince to make a dyno pass with the stock S13 cams as they should be, and then another with the whole 2 exhaust cams repinning thing?

Setup looks good, good luck.

A copper exhaust gasket costs about $15.

Why a copper exhaust manifold gasket? The stock gaskets haven't leaked yet...should they leak with the higher boost?

Where can I get the copper gasket?

Thanks!

If you are rebuilding the motor, be sure to get a full engine gasket kit for when you're putting it back together. I wouldnt reccomend anything other than Felpro.

Also, I didnt see a headgasket listed?

You didnt list a lot of other stuff as well, but you said the car is already turbocharged so I assume you've got all the turbo essentials already.

One came with the "Advanced Rebuild" kit from AMS. I was deleting parts I didn't need, and he read the list of what I was still getting...I was like wtf...it's cheap, I'll take it, a drop in a $1600 bucket. It's made by Mr. Gasket, and the sucker is pretty hefty.Have you gotten the parts from AMS yet, or are you just putting the list together? Has anyone mentioned to you the alloy used for the pistons? I got stock bore, Chris told me they would be 4032 (high silicon), but they aren't. Whatever. It's a stupid thing to lie about, I think he was just confused. I'm still using them.

So, Fiznat, do you not recommend the "Gen-u-wine" set because it's pricy, or is the Fel-Pro better?

That would be included in the Fel-Pro headset I listed above.

Only gaskets needed that aren't in the headset are the front/rear crank seals, oil filter housing seal and...well, that's it. Those will be Fel-Pro.

As for the list: Parts listed have already been ordered. They should start arriving throughout the week. Once they're all here, I'll haul the block and innerds to the machinist for work.

I have a problem, however. I guess I'll have to find another head. One of the corners on the cam bearing surface is chipped off (front, exhaust side)! SUCK!!! I don't know if it can be repaired, but if not, I have two other heads I can use. Just really wanted to use the one that came off the engine. Oh well.
