On 90-93 Qs, all CD changers worked through an FM modulator. The Sony changers are junk, but you can get a Clarion unit that will work as well. Do some searching and you'll see a number of threads on the subject, including repair methods.

Really? Then why the cable?

Anyway, Sony changers can be rehabilitated by Sony.

Are you taking about the changer controller in the armrest tray? I don't know what E99 means but you can try resetting it. The Sony does have its problems but it is your only option unless you want FM modulation. I don't believe the Clarion will work in a 1993.

Another option that I think will work (I think Wes's car has had this done, not sure if it will work on a '93), is to install a Bose CD headunit from a 1999+ G20.

I had picked up a CD changer from an early Q, hoping to make iot work in my 94, but the set ups are so different I never tried. If you're interested drop me an email. Looking for $100 shipped.

Yep, I've seen and heard it. Works like a charm!
