I am pretty sure the mount tabs and harness connections are the same, I believe the only difference is the location, acording to parts america all 84-89 300zx alternators are the same, I do know that they changed from V groove to ribbed belts in 87 I believe?

I can't remember if they were different from NA to turbo pulley-wise. I do know that 84-86NAs had the alt on the driver's side. That's where the turbo went on the 84-86Ts, so the alt was moved to the passenger's side for Turbo models. The 87+ NAs and turbos had the alt on the passanger's side.

The details are here: az-zbum.comBut trust me when I say that I'm too tired to search out the specific page. Shouldn't be too hard to find though.

84-86NA have the "V" pulley and are mounted on the left side of the engine. All other models (87-89NA and all turbo) have the micro-V/multi-V/serpentine style pulley and are mounted on the right side of the engine.

Plugs should all be the same. Have it tested before leaving the store. Rebuilt Z31 alternators are notorious for being dead right out of the box.

Sure. If you don't mind swapping pulleys. But beware. Some people have issues swapping pulleys on the alternators.
