Tach depends.... on my S14, I tuned my OEM tach using a multimeter with frequency readout. It was a PITA to tune (when you try it you'll know why), but I got it to read spot-on from 1000 rpm all the way to 7000 rpm. I wasn't expecting it to be able to be correct at both ends of the spectrum, but it was, so I'm stoked.
Unfortunately, the little potentiometer is inside the tach, which means you have to unscrew the tach, adjust the pot, screw the tach back in, check the rpms, unscrew the tach, adjust the pot, screw the tach back in, check the rpms, unscrew the tach, adjust the pot, screw the tach back in, check the rpms, unscrew the tach, adjust the pot, screw the tach back in, check the rpms, unscrew the tach, adjust the pot, screw the tach back in, check the rpms, to infinity....
But it's worth it for a white-faced OEM tach. Of course, if you've seen where 8000 rpm is on the S14 tach, then you'll know why I didn't test that. No way is that mark in the correct place.
Btw, for the S14 you don't need to use GTRShop's 10k pull-up resistor. Works just fine without it.
