Ok it works but not properly, when i'm doing 50 mph it says i'm doing 15-20 mph and my RPM is off, now i understand it's for a four cylinder and not for a six cylinder but what do i need to do to make it work right??..I'd like to keep the origenal 240 cluster without putting in the RB cluster so.........some help please

First thing you need to do is search.

Second thing you need to do is tell us what car you have. The S13 and S14's have different clusters.

If you have an S13 and your willing to pony up the money, just go to lsauto.com and buy there replacement speedo and tach. After doing some crazy junkyard swapping/trial and error, I eventually just bought the lsauto guages. I should have done this a long time ago.

Is there a difference in the 89-90 240 and the 91+? I have a 90 and I'm hoping that the lsauto.com gauges will work with it and just not the 91+ gauge cluster. Thanks-Alex

the early clusters used a single overhead cam tach, so it read differently, but the clusters are the same and you can drop in the lsauto tach into it.

I had a buddy with a SOHC and he swapped in my DOHC engine along with my old tach and it worked perfectly.

It is a couple hundred for the speedo and tach, but well worth the hastle IMOP.

But you can search this forum and there is some info on tach fix. I would have tried this, but I never saw a good writeup on it. People say it is easy, but I never tried it.

good luck with whatever you decide.

Holy crap, I just tried to wire in my tach on my 90, not working. I have the ground signal coming from the ecu and tach is NOT moving at all. Ground the wire going to the tach and nothing... must be because its early S13 tachs and we need the LS auto ones?-Alex
