Hey guys, i've been smelling something burning from the engine for a couple days...hoping it would go away...but alas it didn't. Tonight, while making a turn, i heard a funny noise when turning left, and the steering started to get harder when parking or turning sharp corners...i opened the hood, and it looks like i have a leak coming from the top of the pump, or where it looks like the hose is attached to the pump...then the fluid is running down, dripping on whats below, therefore giving off that burning smell. I'm wondering...my manual says to use dexron type fluid only to top up the steering fluid, but i'm being told that it's really an automatic transmission fluid. is this true? i don't want to put the wrong **** in there!
after i top up the power steering fluid, i guess i will have to take my baby to the shop to have it looked at. what a pain in the ***!
i drive a 1989 nissan 240sx SE model.
