car was on 10-40 synthetic but I was recommended to go with 10-30 so I did full synthetic of course.

been reading about oils and weights this morning and trying to educate my self more on this topic.

I live in Tx pretty hot usually sometimes a little cold but nothing drastic. does that mean that I can safely run lets say like 20-50 or I don't know 0-40 with no worries or which weight can I use with no issue and which I should NOT at all?

thanks in advance for any help and info.

I have been running GT-R blood aka Mobil One 0w40 in my VK56 engines since I have had them. 3 total with more than 100K running 0w40 between the 3 with no ill effects.

The lower number is the cold flow rate. For colder temp places or turbos and 0 is best. Then the top number is how much protection it gives at high temps. I assume TX never gets less than 40 degrees so you could easily run a 20-50 w/ no problems. I ran it in my motorcycles because you wind the piss outa those things. These aren't high revving cars, but the 50 is good insurance. With that said, it gets real cold here in the winter so I run a 0 or 10 always in my cars.
