I vote 10-40. My buddie spun on a bearing on RP 5w-30 so i stay away from anything less the 10w30.

We have about the same setup and we both make over 350hp to the wheels with SR's. And he was just driving in a striaght line got into the boost, and bam spun the bearing. Also he has a GReddy oil pan and his oil pickup was fine, so i don't think starvation was the culprit i just think 5w-30 was to thin. The RP 5w-30 is like water.

Thick oil is nice.... since it has a higher freezing/boiling point, but thick oil also takes forever to travel to the head on startups. You run a higher risk of dry starting.

To each its own. I use Mobil1 5w30 for just normal DD'n. 10w30 for sprinty runs :DThis is just speaking from personal experience with Royal Purple... I used 5w30 and was wonderful.......until 1.6k Miles when it was drained. It came out VERY and I mean VERY thin. Makes me wonder how it protects 2k+ miles, but those were my experiences with royal purple... will never use it again. Makes me wonder about the gear oil they make also.

I run Mobil 1 extended performance 10w-30 in the colder months and 15w-50 once the average daytime temp gets above 80-85 F (So, pretty much May-Sept. here). I have a redtop, running 10psi on stock T25, with FMIC. No oil cooler, stock thermostat, Koyo radiator.

Same specs. Just a hairline thicker. Oil temp never soared to the sky yet. Never needed to go thicker.

I live in HOT HELL a** PLACE...CHandler AZ...in the summer time..it can get hot up from 70-to 120 therefore i used 20-50 , in the winter time it can get as cold as 80-to like 40 so i used 10-30 ....mobil1 fully synthetic...not extended performance..haven had any issue at all..( my friend work for mobil1 industries and he said extended performance and regular fully synthetic are not much different ...the extended performance only increase viscosity by 2% so save your 40c or so

I was under the impression that Mobil 1 Extended Performance had a 50% higher level of ZDDP than normal Mobil 1 (can't remember where I read that, but this is supposed to be good for older engine designs). Their website says it has 50% more SuperSyn than regular Mobil 1. Either way it is supposed to have greater anti-wear protection than regular Mobil 1. The Extended Performance is only $4 more for the 5 quart jug than the regular so, it's no big deal to me I guess.

well to me i rather trust my friend that work there..whos know what the media or commercial or ad can tell you but..there are multiple of mobil1 the regular conventional one, the fully synthetic one, the extended performnance synthetic one. Now i dont really know where did you read the article that said is had 50% more...but my friend work for them so i rather just him then what ever the ads showed !

Mobil1 10w30 because it gets cold here. 10w40 in the summer.

I run Castrol GTX 5W-40 year round. Works great in the summer and winter. Also, it is designed for longer service intervals.(...Because it's made for VW's I think) I change it every 5k

Im planning on using 10w40 royal purp in california at all times. Ive heard good things about 10w50 and 10w60 as well though! I'm planning on having a larger oil pan and eventually an oil cooler so that should also help.
