I just reinstalled my oil temp gauge on my new motor (sr20det) and thought Id share my info because it might help people. I had the same gauge on my old motor (built KAT) installed the same way so the readings should be the same, its a autometer oil temp installed in a greddy sandwich adapter.

Basically in my old setup which was a built KA with a oil only t3/t4 turbo on it the oil temps were pretty high but I figured it was just off a few degrees due to gauge inacurracy and positioning but I guess I was wrong. I got it hooked up yesterday to my SR20 running an oil/water gt28r and on average the oil temps are 30-40 degrees cooler than the KAT ran. For example in city the KA would be around 210 deg and up to 240 in the highway but the SR is around 180 in the streets and barely ever gets above 210 on the highway.

I figure maybe the water cooled center section helps keep the oil temps down a bit vs. a non water cooled turbo. Anyways, just though Id give a heads up, maybe some people are running some high oil temps aswell you might want to look into oil coolers.

That's good info thanks for the tip! BTW oil coolers are cheap insurance to help prevent oil coking and bearing wear.
