For those of you who have oil temp gauges, what temps do you see the oil typically run at? I have a Defi gauge and it says that I'm running at about 210F fairly constantly. It slowly climbs to 215-220F if I get on it and the oil was at 210F to begin with.

seems about right. RBs run the oil hot very fast. what oil weight are you using?

mine will warm to 180 quick (thermostat for cooler opens then), then go to 210 very slowly under normal driving. it stays between 180 and 210 with the oil2air cooler under normal driving. heavy tracking it can go a bit over 240 with water temps around 210 (pfc says 95c or so) and thats when i start to back down on the car a bit.

keeping it under 240 should be fine. supposedly nissan recommends no more than 115c or 120c oil temps on their bearings

Mine under normal operation is usually around 160(Royal Purple 10w-40) with a 170-180 water temp and on drift days around 200-210 I try not to let the oil go above that.

funny how your water temp is higher than your oil temp under normal operation. i'd check to make sure your gauges are working.

Ok that sounds exactly like what I'm seeing. I'm running 5w-30 Mobil 1. I am somewhat surprised to see that your oil-air cooler keeps the oil at the same temp as the stock oil-water cooler setup. I figured it would be lower than mine. Do you have a fan on the oil cooler?

no fan or ducting on the oil cooler. adding some ducting is in the works and that should help a lot. the oil cooler makes a big difference, but mainly on the track and while moving. stop and go it doesn't do too much.

i am in the process of bypassing the factory oil2water cooler now as well. when i had just the oem cooler on, the temps got hot much faster and would stay hot (210-240). wiht the external cooler my temps climb slowly from 180-210, and drop back down to 180 if i'm doing a lot of highway cruising. it will eventually get hot with serious track driving though, but the car lasts MUCH longer out on the course with the external cooler.
