Whats up Nico......Was trying to install a oil temp gauge today and ran into a little wiring issue. I had installed a sandwich plate in between the filter and the block, this is where i placed the temp sender. Welp I ran the wire for the sender thru the firewall, and to the designated wire on the gauge. then put the ground to ground and the hot, to the remote of my stereo. When i touch the hot to the remote wire the gauge pegs all the way up.......Cant figure this out so anyone that has this install under there belt let me know. Btw it's a 95 240 and an AC,S7 gauge. One thing I was thinkig was the instructions say the threads of the sender goes to ground, should I not have teflon taped this? thanks again.

Hmmmm I dunno about that as a ground point but I can't speak from experience. Damn you've got an interesting one there. My vote would be that it isn't grounded properly but I doubt that is the problem.

Ideally you should run a seperate ground from the oil sandwich adaptor (or nearby) inside to supply the ground for the gauge.

Without a sensor/sending unit hooked up, the gauge will default to pegging(full temp/psi/whatever): so you either have a bad ground and/or signal connection, or bad sensor.

You can test the gauge by grounding the signal wire, it should return the needle to zero.

You can test your sending unit + wiring by taking an ohm reading between your gauge ground and the signal wire: you should see at least 1kohm or so(depends on the sensor, manufacture, etc). A short or open is no good.

Teflon tape should have been OK, unless you used a ton of it. They advise against it for a reason.
