I'm near that time again for another oil change. I usually just go to a shop and let them handle it...not this time. I don't quite remember what the manual suggested but what brand & viscosity would fellow Versa owners suggest? Filter??

I use $1 oil from the local dollar tree and what is an oil filter?

On a serious note, brand is up to you and viscosity is 5w-30 I think. Oil filter brand is also up to you.

The book recommended viscosity is 5w30 as stated above. 4 1/8 quarts.
Brands of oil and filter?....everyone has an opinion. Can't go wrong with a major brand like valvoline, castrol, etc. There are several good filters (purolator pure one, wix, bosch, etc.) and a few I try to avoid like Fram and the brands made by whomever makes Fram filters. I assume you have the necessary tools, a good way to catch and transfer the used oil to a suitable container, safe way to lift and support car, etc.
Take a look at bobistheoilguy.com website for everything you ever wanted to know about the subject.

Sorry, but this isn't very useful. He was looking for suggestions on what other people put in their car, not "it's up to you" lol

Almost not worth the effort for you to type it.

To OP: find out what your dealership uses and compare that to other brands of similar quality / specs. That will get you a good starting point.

As for me, i use Mobile 1 usually, unless the car can't handle a synthetic, and then i'll go with Castrol conventional. Hope that's more helpful
