Hi,

Im in the process of rebuilding a VH41 for some boost with forged pistons 8,5:1 comp.

What are your thoughts about oil squirters under the pistons?

Some builders here in Norway says yes to install it, And some says its unesessary, and that its better to keep the oil flow to the bearings.

Have anyone drilled oil squirters in their VH engine?

I,ll post up some pics of the heads and block in a few weeks.I have ported the heads ans glassblasted the stuff myself, now its in the local machine shop.

I thought oil squirters were standard in 41's

the oil squirters are good when using boost because of the higher combustion temperatures. when doing them you should compensate your piston expansion when doing your wall clearances if your useing Eutectic pistons, if useing Hypoeutectic pistons then the expansion rate shouldnt change. dont use low pressure oil control rings because they wouldnt be able to handle the extra oil being added. factory style will be sufficiant. the squirters just have to be aimed correctly, if you want to be sure then prime the system with the engine upside down, will be messy that way however.

I dont know if my pistons are Hypoeutectic or not.Its forged pistons from CP.The pistons where custom built for forced air engine.

if they are forged form cp then most likly they are Eutectic. if they are for boost then they should be good to go.

Should have squirters, especially in a Y32 engine.

They're built in to the conrods, look, the unsymmetric bit sticking out partway up the rod is where oil is squirted out of to hit the underside of the pistons & bore walls:

Bingo. So if you go custom rods you need to drill holes in the them to retain the squirters?

I was wondering if that was a oil squirter!Great, no worries about this issue anymore. Thanks!

Pauter can machine a little channel on the side of their rods as an option.Check out their web sito for more info.

Im pushing my luck with std rods and sr20 arp bolts. The sr20 bolts are identical, but 5mm longer than the VH stuff.

if the rb rods easily takes 600hp, I believe the VH rods takes 800

I have run the std sr20 rods to 400whp with no problems. The VH rods look the same but are approx 20mm longer. The VH41 stroke has 9mm shorte stroke awsell.

I,m really looking forward to see what power the 4094 turbo can give me with 1,6 bar boost on my VH41.

Main stress on the rod is how heavy the piston is. Don't combine heavy slugs with high revs and you should be alright with stock rods.

No one's proven that 800HP+ is possible on stock rods (that I know of), but it seems possible based on what has been done with other high HP Nissan motors running standard rods.

Good luck mate.I hope you do well, i have the same motor, 800hp would be too much for me but would be nice to know its capable.

thanks!

Im not saying that I will achive 800 at the crank, but I hope to come near that figure.I dont think I will push the turbo above 1,5-1,6bar.

A friend of mine has a turbocharged lexus 4litre v8 in a s13.he has dynoed 630whp and 890nm at 1,4 bar with a HKS t51r turbo.the car runs like HELL on all gears and rpm,s. 480nm of torque only at 2700rpm!

But at 7000rpm its like its hitting a wall or something.heads are ported, but the cams are still std.

I looking for approximatley the same figures, but with a wider powerband at high revs.

...Time will know
