Ive tried searching for the past half hour but i couldnt find anyhting related to this besides one thread saying it was ok to have a little oil come out..

Anyways i just replaced my headgasket and i finaly go the car up and running and after i got back from the first drive, oil was sprayed everywhere and it was coming out of the breather that i have on the T fitting on my Valve cover...also i saw some either steam or smoke coming out too...but that just might be from things burning off after installing the head gasket..what would cause all this oil spraying out/??

Any help would be great guysthanks

usually oil spraying out is a sign of bad rings. did you compression test it?

Are you running the stock oil catch can. if not your might want to invest in one. Curcuit Sports makes one for cheap and it is nice quality for the price. i also have a stock one if you need it.

You need to run the stock catch can or an aftermarket one in between the black and T-valve (so the oil will drain back into the block instead of pooling in the can). After you do that, see if you still experience a lot of blowby (a small amount is fine). It you do still have a lot of blowby, it's your rings, if you have little to none, get rid of the breather and hook a hose from the front of the T-valve to the intake tube after the MAF, before the turbo.

Ok i just put the stock one back on and ill see what happens..but also if i had bad rings i would be burning alot of smoke and i have absolutly none..i have a little black smoke once in awhile because im running rich. Also if there was that much blowby shouldnt my dipstick pop out? Cuz i used to have a sr with bad rings and alot of blow by and my dip stick always blew out

Used to? Do you still have an SR or do you have an RB20 like your avatar info shows? I know nothing of the stock RB20 crankcase set-up. As for the blowby, without a stock catch can (on the SR) I had very little blowby going into the intake, but I did have some. Since I installed the stock can, I get little to none. try what I and srdub-t suggested and we'll go from there. A compression and leakdown test would be next/wouldn't hurt.

No i dont have a rb anymore lol that was years ago(looks like i need to make a change to my advatar)..but i installed my stock catch can back on and it all went away. I even put a hose on the other end of the T and put a 2 liter pop bottle with some holes in it and there was no oil in it..so i think i should be good..

But were you saying that i should have less blow by with my stock catch can setup?? I would think that i would have less with a bigger aftermarket catch can..but i could be wrong

I meant less with the can in the stock location versus not having one at all. the stock can is in position to allow the oil being forced out of the crankcase by the pressure to drain back in the crankcase once the pressure subsides. i also meant oil blowby going into the intake, not oil blowby going by the oil rings on the piston. I don't know if there are two different terms for these. I've always called both blowby.
