No, but I have used it in others. That particular engine came with the #1-2 rod journals cratered from cavitation...When it is below zero, and you start an engine and rev it to over 3 grand immediately, something gives up...I used it in my wife's 1991 Honda at 70K because of the yellow "film" visible in the engine. It now is almost clean as new, and it has 130K on it. I also used it in a 1994 Ford Escort I repo'd from my ex that had 20k on the oil...it was black, and just begining to break down. Took five oil changes between 48-55K miles to get it cleaned up using Dura-blend 10w30. The 1998 Nissan Sentra (1.6) that my wife now drives has almost 80K on it and the interior of the engine is as clean as the day I picked it up at the salvage yard five years ago (Mobil Synthetic Blend 5w30) at 3K mile intervals. I used it in my father's 1996 Chrysler Concorde 3.5 at 125K two yers ago when he switched to Mobil 1 from Pennz (man, was THAT a mess...) and the FIRST thing I did after buying the I30 was to run Pyroil through it...Now running Valvoline SynPower 5W30 at 3k intervals, and to look in the engine is no different than a new one.

Fred... Doing oil change this weekend...

We discussed using chevron supreme, as its a good cheap oil and good cleaning (from what I could tell, everyone was tired that night :) )

If I used the chevron for say, 1500 mile intervals, would it be good/bad to change the filter every other change???

Otherwise, would it be just as good for me to keep my durablend and 90 day changes..

Also, as we discussed the stuff in my engine is NOT sludge, its varnish... Black stuff, but in a film, no caked on crud, just a black saran wrap looking stuff on there.....

Seafoam should help this.....

You can leave the filter in if your intervals are at `1500.

You can leave it in for a couple of changes easily.

fred, how do you feel about the bilstein r2000 engine flush machine? i use this thing all the time on customers cars. also,i have an interestin method for removing sludge.1)remove oil pan(this part sucks)2)set on fire with flammable liquid(we use brake cleaner)3)tap on ground and sludge powder falls off

nother questionwhat are the long term effects of idling engine with atf in in briefly before oil change? i have watched a seal swell up when emmersed in atf. obviously i would not use 4 quarts of atf in my sr, but still. any comments?

1) Good process just like envirolution or Motorvac.2)Great method!3)None that we know of. Many here do it all the time, myself included4)Just dont use too hi a concentration of ATF should be ok. Hi Milage engine oils also contain extra seal swellers.

i must relate a story then. once a guy in the shop did a bilstein and somehow crimped the return hose. the machine pumped all of its fluid in without ever sucking any out. well he gets me and says, "its coming out the corner of the engine". corner? it was coming out of a breather hose! the motor was full of the stuff. so we drained it out and put oil back in it. she smoked for a long time. he had to drive all over the place. im sure it was clean inside though.

Someone said to try 20W40 oil with my next change(tomorrow). Is that good for say between 55(night) degrees and a hot and sticky98(blistering hot days) degrees of North Carolina Beach weather? If not I'm sticking with 10W30. How hard is it to get to the filter? Of course I'll be doing this myself.

I'm changing my oil this weekend, not tomorrow. What is the ATF trick I just read about? Got my new shoes on. The Pirelli's are waiting for my review!!

Any other little knick knack stuff I can do during the Oil & filter change, air filter ect.. I want to do everything I can, outside of major work, while I'm doing that....

The seals [front and rear main on Q] are VITON, they are immune to everything but wear and extremely strong acids.

Cheapo rubber seals swell.

1)In the old days a 20w-40 was agreat way to get a 40 weight with very little VII's.Nowadays you have access to oil with less VII but still better multiviscosity behaviour (10w.15w,5w,0w-40)

In a Dino oil a 20w-40 is only way to get stable 40 weight. But why not use a Valvoline Durablend in 10w-40 same hot running protection but much better innate VI so no need for excesive VI improver like 10w-40's of yore.

2) It will work fine but reall good oils arent mad ein 20w-40 anymore becaus etheir innate VI enables them to cover a larger spread.

3)Stable but not particular thick for a hot US summer. But will work.

4)Contortionism.

here is a list of 40 weights that are nice and stable and still give you full multiviscosity behaviour.:http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....=6610

Thanks Fred..... That's exactly the info I needed and that thread has great info. I have heard of the Valvoline Semisynthetic but have never seen it for sale.

What's Rex taliking about "BG 44K in the tank?" Caught me off guard there.

Can't find a damn air filter in all of these frickin' automotive places down here nor in any of the dealerships. You gotta be kidding me!! We got tons of beach, ocean and automotive stores and dealers, but NOOOooooo air filter. Give me a break..

I'm going with Valvoline synpower full synthetic 10W30 this go round and then I'll flip to a 10W40 when it gets a little hotter. that way I can see the difference for myself. Got the Mobile 1 filter this time and will most likely get a cheaper one a couple oil changes down the road. I don't think I ever spent $11.00 for an oil filter before.....First time for Seafoam too.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll send in a contribution for the Nico forum for all the help...

redmanfx, i use the mobile1 oil filter for changes, 4 times a year. a few extra bucks over the cheapo's, i feel it's worth it, and my Q is worth the extra protection and build quality of the filter,,,but that's me! as for the air filter, couldn't find either. checked every parts store in my area,,,,nothing!!!! called joe at scottsdale infiniti yesterday (or maybe it was tues???), ordered all new belts and the oem air filter,,,,THEY CAME TODAY!!!! do yourself a favor and order the oem filter,,,much better than anything off the shelf. if you call first thing tomorrow, i'm sure they could get it to you by sat.jeff
