Hey guys! Im the proud owner of a 1991 240sx wich I recently bought. Mileage is over 205.000. Im about to get the oil changed, so I was wondering, as my car knowledge is quite limited, what kind oil do you recommend I use?

Also, what is HICAS? A red light with HICAS written on it lights up frequently. I assume it's a warning light, just not sure if this is a bad thing or not.

Your help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Congrats on the car purchase. You're now the proud owner of a Hicas 240sx. Which means your car has the factory four wheel steering and VLSD (viscous limited slip differential). Hicas 240's are alot less common. Some people like the four wheel steering. Some people hate it. Especially drifters. It's all preference. As for the light coming on. I'm sure that's the steering engaging.

Also, a good oil for 240's as for most cars tends to be Mobil 1 synthetic. And weight is all prefernece. I use 10W 30 in my s13. Seems to burn alot less oil since I switched from that crappy Penzoil brand.

buddy if you change your oil regularly liek 3000kms you don't need fancy oil you jsut pay for additives. If you don't change your oil lots then go for a more expensive oil. When it comes to oil you get what you pay for. It the summer i run 20w50 in my 1991 240 coupe, for the winter i go with 10w30. And information about oil - the first number is the viscosity (resistance to pouring) at Operating temp.the "w" means winter gradethe second number is the viscosity at 0 degrees

another thing to remeber is that dont use synthetic if the motor has been on dino its entire life, the dyno builds up in the small nooks and crannies of the motor, using syn breaks it down and you'll certainly notice leaks afterwards, stick to what the manual says........

well the hicas light means there are some abnormalities in the system, wether it be some kind of failure or a check something out light, i dont know exactly because mine has never worked since i bought it and i plan on eliminating that piece of garbage as well
