I put 4 quarts even into my car, if you are not in really cold weather or anything special, I would suggest 10w-40, as I used to use 10w-30, and the 30 didnt run as nicely as the 40 does. Just figured I could help you out(BTW, I used to own an 89 SOHC before my 92)

3.5L with new oil filter3.2L w/o new filter

remember to prep the filter element by rolling some oil in there before putting the new filter on.

I use Mobil 1 10w-30

if you don't prep the filter element, it's not too good for your motor as it won't have the oil necessary to lube the parts of your engine as it's trying to saturate the oil filter while attempting to feed the rest of your internals. not too good for the engine.

i'm sure your owner's manual will tell you all about what weight and how much oil to put in that car ;)

for the ticking noise, try putting some marvel mystery oil in your crank. it could also be injectors (i don't know if KA injectors tick like SR injectors do), so run some injector cleaner through it next time you fill up
