oil question just curious?

Ive checked recent oil forumsdepending on where you live is what kind of oil you should refer toi live in las vegas and whats the type for our 2.5s they told me 10 w -30 am i right or wrong just making sure cuz i dont want to mess up my engine.

Using 10W30 as an example - the first number means that the oil will act like a 10 weight oil upon cold start-up; the second number means that the oil will act like a 30 weight oil upon warm starts or when the engine has reached operating temps. LV can get cold every now and then but I think that area is more likely to get extreme heat so the more viscous 10W30 would be better suited to provide protection for those 100+degree days. Realistically though neither you or your car will see a difference if you are using a decent brand and decent maintenance schedule. You will be fine with either OEM recommended 5W30 or the 10W30 that "they" recommended.
