What are some ways to tell if oil pump is bad or about to go bad on rb20? without using an oil pressure gauge, no money for one, sorry. LOL

no one is replying to this because of your "no money to get a gauge, LOL" approach. the answer is obvious. get a gauge if you want to know your oil pressure, its like $30. if the oil pump is dead your motor will not survive a minute of running. even a gauge is mostly a reactive thing, by the time you see something is messed up it's usually too late. but if you get a gauge and oil pressure is consistently low you will know your pump is on its way out or something is wrong.

another good indicator if you want to save money is to just the run the motor until it spins all the bearings.

ok well thanks i guess. LOL

are there any other ideas that you may think the oil light would come on from out of nowhere?

I do not have any oil leaks, i do not burn oil, i cheked and re-wired the oil sensor several times and light was still on.

any way i can tell if i just have a bad sensor???

come on now man, this is a simple problem with an easy solution. Check your oil level, it might be low and install an oil pressure gauge. Its just an idiot light it could be faulty...Or like Gawd said, just wait to see if the bearings spin then LOL.

the factory low oil pressure light is worthless compared to an oil pressure gauge. if you really want it to work, any of the nissan factory one wire senders should interchange (KA/SR,etc). but by the time you buy one of those you're probably more than halfway towards paying for a gauge.

if you want it to turn off for free, disconnect the sender.

Jump in your car and start it up. let it idle and warm up. Now jump on the fwy and taker her up to 100mph and hold that speed then slow down and do it again. If it didn't blow up before you got there your ok.
