Ok I have this idea that would probably be very beneficial to the the KA-T guys or maybe it's already been done let me know either way. Remember back in the day...yeah way back then, when the old school muscle car guys used to put electronic oil pumps that would prime the engine with oil before startup? Basic concept is you turn the key and the oil pump would squirt oil into the engine block (and make a real cool whine sound), then after about 5-10 sec. it would shut off and then you could start your engine. Would it be possible to to do this on the KA or no? I realize some of you are going to say that the idea or gay or stupid but personally I think it's cool and it would definately ensure that your engine block is properly oiled up prior to start up. Like I said this would definately be beneficial to the KA-T guys out there, think of it as a turbo timer for pre start up. It would only be on for a max of 10 sec, just long enough to get oil from the pan to your system so that no startup would be a dry.

Anyway it's just an idea I had and wanted to share with you guys to see to get your opinions.

no idea since the only thing that primes/pressurize w/ the key on is the fuel pump...

oil pump runs off the dist. in my KA24E...

just pull the plug on the fuel pump and the harness to the distributor or the ignition and let the starter do the priming for you. When you crank it, it'll just be turning without any fuel or any spark and will prime the oil pump without any problems.

It's a slightly silly idea, or at least overly-compulsive. A much simpler solution than another pump is an accumulator- a sealed tank mounted with its opening facing down, and a solenoid. As the engine runs, some oil and its pressure is bled into the tank, and when you shut-off, the solenoid closes. Before starting, you trip the solenoid, let the air pressure at the top of the space push oil through the system, and then start. Moroso used to make an accumulator tank for this. But if the engine's run once a month, the bearings are going to be holding enough oil to prevent damage. Plain bearings hold oil, especially when running. The oil pump is only there to force cool oil into the bearing space.

I used a tank that you put oil and air pressure in. Then I hooked a hose to the oil sending unit hole and crank the motor by hand at the crank bolt while you open the valve on the tank forcing the oil into the motor.

A sealed tank wouldn't need air pressure. The oiling system pumps it up through a check valve, a solenoid valve releases it.
