oil pump/ parts car

I have been wondering if oil pumps going out on 89 -91 240s is a common problem. 3 240s in my town have all blown there engines because of this problem. Should i worry about this with my 89? And i have one of the cars that blew there engine, it is a 89 coupe with spoiler, no rust exterior. I am wanting to part this car out, everything is there except the oil pump went on the engine so i believe its pretty fried. Let me know if you need any part, everything is in good condition
