I know all of you are doing this right now :picard: but i have done so much googling and reading of manufacturers descriptions and still cant get my head around it.

I have an N1 oil pump on a R33 RB26. I am doing some modifications to the head to get more RPM out of the engine (9k ish reliably)
I am trying to decide which oil pump gears I should go with so it does "assplode"... REIMAX or spool spline drive/non spline drive.

I have also considered going with a high performance oil pump, but if not needed, i can save the money for other things.
The car will be mostly street driven, maybe see 3-4 track days a year with spirited driving in between.

If anyone could shed some light on this for me and help me out it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I have a Tomei pump, its been great, i also have a set of the Reimax gears i was gonna use in a motor build, the clearance between the crank collar and the gears is a few thousands looser than the OEM gears, kinda sketch IMO.

Spline drive is what the 2J and most other Toyotas use, seems to work on those engines just fine. Seems people are liking them with the RB's. I did talk to Raw brokerage about the spline drive and they weren't impressed, but im not sure how well versed they are on building engines.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do?
After all the money i have put into this thing, i dont want to mess it all up by having something like this be the issue.

I would completely overlook the gears and move to a larger capacity pump in general. The Tomei units are great since they have an external pressure adjustment if you feel the need to adjust. All other known pumps can only be adjusted with the sump removed. I personally run a Nitto pump on both 26's right out of the box without removing any of the pressure springs. Right out of the box it is at 120psi, but it will rarely get up that high unless the oil is either cold or winding the motor towards redline. I do run a restrictor on both to prevent head pooling. Both run at 9k redline.

Hey guys. I'm Younes from Supertec Racing. We manufacture and sell Spline drive kits for the RB series engines. We have to date sold more than 120 of these kits in various configurations of N1, oem Jun Greddy and Tomei.

We have also carried out extensive testing and we have had no issues what so ever. Our biggest customer base has been Canada through the GTR forum.
