Newbie to the forum. I'm currently rebuilding the engine on my 89 300ZX and am curious about something. I purchased an engine rebuild kit from enginepartsonly.com and included in the kit was a new oil pump. I installed the new oil pump on the block. The crank seal is seated properly and the pump is aligned correctly with the dowels on the block.
However, the mating surfaces on the block and pump for the oil pan are not flush. The difference is definitely noticeable. Has anyone else ran into this? Is this just normal and the RTV gasket will make up for the difference?
