Alright...........last noob question......I hope

I'm using my ca18et oil sending unit in my ca-det for my s12 gauge, and it's showing about 80-85 psi at hwy cruising speeds, and about 45 psi at idle. This has me a little concerned because the ca-et pressure was a lot less.In the S13 FSM, it says on page LC-4 the pressure should be MORE than 51-60 psi @ 3000 rpms. Should I be concerned? Looking at the FSM it looks like I'm good.

Wow, I hope not or mine is dangerously low. I'm barely making 50psi at 3K, probably actually a little less. Maybe it's due to the synthetic oil being thinner?

I do get over 11psi at idle.

Now you've got me worried man...

No, it does not.

It says

Idle Speed more than 11psi3000 51-60psi

and there is NO way it is actually pumping 45 psi at idle when the oil is all warmed up unless you have a severe clog or something of that nature.

to be honest, i would not trust a 20 year old stock gauge and sender set up.

Whew! I didn't actually look at the FSM until this morning. You're right it does say more than 11psi at idle and 51-60 at 3K.

I'm still not with in that pressure range at 3K though....

Thats odd..

Im running 10-30 mobil 1 full synthetic (always have since I got the motor) and at idle after a nice long highway cruise the pressure is about 15-20psi between 800-1200 rpm and once cruising again I get right at 65psi at 3k rpm. When I was dyno'ing it peaks right around 92-95 psi at 7k rpm

Great, that doesn't make me feel good. It's a new oil pump. Maybe something is wrong.

This might explain my problems with not being able to keep my lifters pumped up. I got brand new ones and they still tick.

It's done this since the rebuild IIRC. It never had lifter problems when I first installed the motor.

Maybe I should pull the oil pan when I pull the head to replace the HG....

I'll have to go back and re-check the fsm copy I've got....because I don't even remember it mentioning what the oil pressure should be at idle on page LC-4, and I'm almost positive it said "MORE THAN" 51-60 psi @ 3k rpm........but it was late, and I was tired. My sender is only about 2 yrs old, so it should be good.....but yeah, I have never really trusted the stock gauge.......Maybe it's reading so high because of the cold weather, and the fact that i'm using conventional 10-30, instead of synthetic, which is all I ran with the ca-et.I guess, I'll find out if it lowers some once I swap to full syn.

Why would I lie? I looked in the FSM, on page LC4.

That doesnt sound too good. I hope nothing goes wrong with my rebuild! Your lifters are still ticking? Wow... What about the check valve at the pump? Can that affect this low pressure reading?

I have an oil leak at the HG and I suspect that is the problem. It's a new oil pump and new lifters. I'm going to look at the check valve when I pull the head. I'm also running Mobil 1 0-40 right now, so I'm sure that's got something to do with it as well.
