I don't know about this vehicle, but when I was replacing the oil pressure switch on a Jeep Liberty, I started by figuring out which size box wrench fit over the switch properly. I then went to various auto parts stores and hunted for something that matched. As it turned out, the socket that fit the switch was not the same label in milimeters as my box wrench, but fit the switch like a glove.
Further, a (say) 26mm socket in one store was not quite the same as a 26mm in another store. Go figure.
tl;dr: Experiment with different size sockets until you find something that fits.
I suppose the 1/2" drive socket may be slightly shorter, because the female space (for the wrench male end) may be a little larger. If you can't get the wrench on the socket because the sensor is sticking out too far (socket is too short), maybe you can lock some locking pliers on the socket without the wrench and crack it loose that way.
