Is the oil fully warmed up? Cold oil has much higher viscosity so the pressure will be much greater compared to oil that is warmed up.

Factory spec is around 11 psi at idle (750 RPM) and generally rises 10 psi per 1000 RPM.

yeah when the motor is fully warmed up i'm getting those readingsmy idle is a bit high at the moment@ 1k rpm

I just rebuild the motor and new pump. so i don't know if that would affect the engineI have the autometer oil pres gauge and it came with it's own sender. I just took out the oem sender and replaced it with the one from autometer

Im using an Autometer with its own electric sender.

Im getting close to 12 psi during idle at 1000 RPM just like it should be.

Next question, what weight of oil are you running?

^that probably does it. I run 10w-30 (as far as I know this is the recommended weight and I also live in georgia). I get those same numbers when my motor isn't warmed up fully. Mine is closer to what IlikeMy240sx said after it warms up. I also use an Autometer gauge with it's own sender.

Seems kind of low... I get around 22 psi idling between 900-1000 rpm (crappy grounds ) after 30 minutes of driving. I do have a brand new oil pump though.

I have a brand new oil pump as well. Why do you say this is low? Factory spec is 11 psi at idle so Im happy where Im at with 10W-30

He says it's low cause he's an idiot.

It's just lower than what I see is all. To a certain extent though you can never have too much oil pressure though.

I knew me and your mom had something in common.

You both think 12psi is low pressure? That's probably true, but you're the idiot because you pretend to know what you're talking about.

well I changed my oil today to 10w-30, but not much of a change. what was 30 is now about 25 and @ 3krpm it's like below 75, it was around 80 at firstI didn't change my filter cause I changed it last saturday so there is some 20w-50 still in the filter, but i don't think that will make much of a difference.well it's back to the drawing boards then

You can run 10w-40, but stay with 10w-30 if your still running high pressure. As for the readings still being high, I'd check your gauge or sensor first, could be a number of things.

At warm idle I'm around 20-25psi. Cruising at 80mph I see 55-60psi at 3500rpms.
