oil pressure problem

so driving today seen the oil pressure gauge was bouncing from 40-60psi traveling in 5th @60mph.. i try to get on it to give it more oil pressure but it doesn't go past 60psi. and it still bounces from 40-60psi.

checked my oil b/c im due for a oil change.. turns out i was low, put in 1qt. and started the car up. the oil pressure seemed fine. reved it, oil pressure when to over 80psi. and it was stable.

drove for 1/2 hr mixed driving, and it started to do it again.. bouncing form 40-60psi..

im thinking it may be a spun bearing.. any other reason?

btw the gauges are defi. so is it a possibility that maybe the sending unit or something is bad? but i only does it some times.. and when the car is idling. its at 20psi stable oil pressure..

40-60psi sounds about right.

did it go to 80 when the engine was cold? cause that would be normal.

You mean to say that your oil pressure is fluctuating from 40psi to 60 at steady RPMS and load?

What is your oil pressure at idle?

Test sending unit. I suggest pulling pan and checking condition of oil pickup and oil pump. This is what happend to me....

man that looks bad, i got a question my car when its a cold start my engine ticks a little but as it warms up it gets worse and the oil pressure at idle can go from 20 to 10 psi on my ka24e is that ok. plus it seems to bog the picks up fine later on. Also it like to miss a lot but doesnt show it on the tach. like my rocker arms are not working right but the oil pressure it as high as 60 at 3k it that ok.Or will i need a new pump.
