Easiest way to check for bad oil pressure sensor?

Had a problem today. Was on way back from work and oil light flickered and came on. Shut the engine down. Checked oil level and it was fine. Started it back up and oil light flickered and came on again. Turned it off and had it towed.

Some causes that come to mind are:

Oil Pressure SensorMaybe Grounded wiring or something has come looseOil Pressure Regulator valveOil PumpOil Strainer.

I'm thinking about taking the whole dang sensor out and putting in my Electrical Oil Gauge in its place...

Oil lights scare me

Hope this turns out to be a small problem (bad sensor)

What's average amount of time/distance for an engine to seize from oil starvation?

I think maybe I drove no more than about a quarter mile from work when I noticed the light.

This morning I popped the hood and wiggled the oil sensor wire and started the motor up and the light was out.

It was also really cold last night. Don't know if that has something to do with it.

Changed the oil today. Oem Oil filter felt like it weighed about 5lbs.Wish I had a tool to cut it open and look inside.

If it comes on tonite then its not a wire issue and not an oil filter issue. If it don't come on then its either a short in the wire or a clogged filter.

Same thing happened to my daily driver 95 MX-3. Oil was fine and everything, but light flickered first and came up all the time later. Replaced it and problem went away. I don't know how expensive KA/SR oil pressure sending unit is, but I would replace it first and go from there. I know what you mean. It really scared me first.
