I hadn't driven my 240 in awhile, to darn cold so I starting working on it. I moved the Oil Pressure gauge from the A Priller to a dash gauge cluster. I did NOT extend any wires or touch the sender unit. Well finally got a warm day and the car was put all together (well mostly, interior is half gone) so I took it out. For some odd reason I am now showing 100+ psi of Oil Pressure...At around 6 grand the niddle hits the 100psi mark and starts bobbing back and forth. I pulled over and checked the motor, no leeks, nothing leaking, not a problem, car ran great. Still makes me nervous showing that mush oil pressure. Could it be the sender unit or what? I didn't know a 4 cylinder could even produce that much oil pressure in the first place.

Have you had the car out for a while to give the oil time to warm up or did you just notice the high oil pressure and shot off the car. Because for the first few mintues when you start a car it will have really high oil pressure and will slowly drop to the right pressure once the oil is a operating temperature.

even when my car is cold upon start up i don't think i've ever been above 75psi and while driving i hold steady at right around 45 or so. i think it could very well be a malfunctioning unit. i've been wrong before though.
