Reading up on an oil pressure gauge install on 300zxs and an adapter is needed to convert from 1/8" BSPT to 1/8" NPT. I would assume the same would apply for our blocks. Trying to plan ahead and order all necessary adapters!

From what Ive heard, just go get an aftermarket pressure gauge. Take your stock pressure switch and the new sending unit to a hardware store, sears, etc.....

Japanese block use metric fittings so don't be afraid to use those.

I'm going with an aftermarket gauge, the problem is the stock location on the block. On VG30 and VG33 blocks, the stock location has a 1/8" BSPT thread (who knows why). ALL aftermarket gauges use 1/8" NPT fittings and the adapters are easy to find online, but they aren't common at a hardware store. Just seeing if anyone knew if the VH45 block had the same thread pitch.

I already read that the stock location can just be re-tapped but with it being aluminum I'd be a bit hesitant.

If you search the archive posts I KNOW I've read it somewhere.

I too would be hesitant to retap the aluminum threads. Sounds like a great way to ruin something big time.

.Don't make this difficult just get a 1/8 BSPT to 1/8 NPT adapter thats all it takes.

Thanks David. Wasn't meaning to make it difficult, I just couldn't get a confirmation as to whether it would work on ours or not.

I have one on my Mitsubishi's 4g63 I'll take it off and try it on the Vh to be 100% sure and take a picture of it. Hows that sound?

No need to take a picture...I'll take your word for it. If it's easy to access that would be awesome. If not I'll order one and hope it works. Thanks!

I just got my guages and I may as well add my question here. My oil and water are mechanical. The oil has just been answered in this thread but the water has not. Has anyone added an aftermarket mech water gauge and if so where did you put it?

I'm trying to order an oil pressure gauge and it was HIGHLY reccomended to purchase a nice braided stainless hose to use instead of the cheap nylon hose they give you with the gauge. These hoses aren't cheap and I'm not sure how long of a hose I should order. They come in 3, 4, and 6 feet. If I can get away with a 3 or 4 that would be great! I can't tell exactly where the oil pressure sensor screws into the block in the picture above...looks like towards the front of the passenger side?
