A short brass elbow works fine too, definitely avoid any adapter setup that hangs the weight of the sender(s) off of the threads at any distance from the block. I had a straight extension and a tee on mine once, with both OEM and aftermarket sender attached.
This allowed the whole thing to bounce up and down during driving, and the threads broke off the brass pipe where it screwed into the block, and I pumped all the engine oil out onto the ground. Luckily the oil light lit up and I was only going 30 mph after leaving a parking lot.
The mile-long stripe of oil on the pavement was visible for 6 months!
The ss line kit from Autometer #3235 has a bunch of adapters in it. I have used one on SR's over 100 times. It screws in about 6 turns before the thread difference NPT vs BPT binds it up. Just tighten it down a few more turns without stripping the threads, and it works great, very affordable.
