oil pressure gauge

installed my oil press gauge today and when i start the car the the needle stays peged any thoughts?

Well Ive read around and heres what I saw

1. Oil Pressurer relief valve stuck by crud in the lines2. New oil type different than normal3. Built Engines run high at start but back off as engine warms

I dont know if any of those are right but its what i found.

but it stays peged all the way even when the key is turned on?

Did you install an electric oil press gauge?if yes then you are grounding the sender wire at all times. If you installed a mechanical gauge - you need to get your motor's cholesterol checked

At startup oil is thick which causes high oil pressure, it will reach the lower "normal" pressure level after about 20 min of driving.

If the needle doesnt move at all then chances are it was wired wrong or had a voltage spike that got the needle stuck at max. This happened to my Greddy gauge, I had to take it apart and push the needle back down.

I would go over wiring first, ignition, constants? ground.

fixed it, it wasnt grounded right thats all thanks for the input
