Oil pressure gauge install

Anyone installed an oil pressure gauge in an 89 s13 ka24e? I think I am having some oil pressure problems and I would like to know before I replace the pump. Would like to have the gauge anyway so it would be nice to see the pressure before and after the pump is replaced.

How about replacing the pump? It looks simple in the Chiltons but there must be some gothas.

FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS IN CHILTONS!!! i just had this same problem i had no oil pressure it's not likely that the pump is bad though, but i found that when the old chain guide breaks off it turns into alot of mush and gets clogged up in the oil ports what i reccomend doing is pulling the pan off and blowing air through the oil ports there pull the pump blow oil there and through the filter hole also it cleaned it out good for me and then clean the pan really good should also replace the chain tensior while your doing this all if you haven't yet

That is exactly what happened only worse. The guides and tensioner went but I didn't know it. It eventually wore a hole through the cover into the cooling channel and leaked water into the crankcase. The shop that replaced the cover and all removed the pan, cleaned it and blew out the channels. I have purchased a can of Gunk motor cleaner and was going to run it through. Have you ever used or heard of anyone using this stuff?

i've used gunk, it didn't seem to work to bad at cleaning it all out, just put it in and let it run for about 10 minutes, then drain it don't change your filter yet though also get a can of seafoam, it's a engine protectant put that in and let it run for about halff an hour then change oil again, this time replace filter... atleast i did that and it all worked perfectly
