Ok, so for my oil pressure gauge I have to run a wire to my ignition switch. Does anyone know what wire it is and possibly what color it is.

This is on the assumption that your gauge is going to be on your A-pillar, but what I did for my gauges is that I used an add-a-circuit and plugged it into one of my ignition fuses. Very simply install and can be found at any auto parts store (Kragen, Pep-boys, etc.).

Hello from ATI/ STRI. We are not sure if your question was answered yet, but different manufactures may use different color wiring color code. For example, STRI uses RED while DEFI uses Orange for IGN.

If you can reply with your gauge type, we would be happy to help look into it.

Also, is a Oil plate adapter being used? This really helps with the install.

That was the same thing I did for mine

there are several places to run ignition signal from. fuel pump relay, off the key cylinder on the steering column, in fact the relay box prob has like 20 that read 0V off and 12V with ignition on. any of these will do, just use a multi meter and see what is hot with ignition on.

now this is just a suggestion, but I'd add a relay somewhere(under the dash near the HVAC controls is a good place) and wire whatever ignition source you use as a signal to the relay. The you can run power from the battery to the gauge through this relay and not put the extra strain on the ignition source you use.

Relay? It's a gauge, not an electric fan. Power directly from the battery? Am I the only one that thinks that is unnecessary?

for one gauge, or even a couple gauges no it's not necessary. But as the car develops you may find all kinds of crap around your dash that needs 12V, and running that much current can take a toll on your wiring. Our harnesses are already old, and the last thing you want is a wire to get brittle and break in some random spot.

It's up to the OP but a standard 12V automotive relay is about as easy as it gets to wire in, and it gives you a known high current voltage source for anything else you might ever need.

But if that gauge is all thats gonna be, nothing wrong with piggybacking an ignition wire.

The relay box is next to the battery, right. How would I make a connection from there.

Ok, so what I did was tap into the black and yellow wire on the left side of my steering wheel. Can anyone verify if that is the correct wire.
