I wouldn't use teflon tape in that situation, it's been known to break off and possibly clog lines/passages

Permatex makes high temp liquid thread sealant, you can buy it at any parts store. I believe that is the 'correct' thing to use in this application

but the bottom line is, i should use some sort of sealant, correct? i know the stock Oil pressure sensor didn't have any sort of sealant on it when i removed it before. thanks for the reply.

I used teflon tape too... just made sure it wasn't sticking off the edges of the plugs and sensors... left a thread or two untaped on the end and i've had no problems...

Tape is fine, you just need to be careful applying it. I do plumbing a lot for my job, and there is definitely a knack to it.

I mostly apply it in a taper, with one wrap at the start of the threads and then increasing the # of wraps as it goes up. That will usually prevent it balling up and breaking loose.

the most important thing to remember when applying teflon tape is to wrap it in the direction of the threads, not reverse of the threads.

that would be the same way that you tighten it right?

i ended up just using teflon tape. and its working good.

i do have another question though. my oil pressure was between 30-50psi after warmup at idle..should i be checking for something?

damn, hopefully you can get that shiz together and going soon! lol i've had my car for like 2 years and i haven't got to drive it once because i bought it as a shell...

i do have the FSM, but it said something about 78psi at idle or something and i was like wtf? so i thought i'd just ask on here since i knew i had a thread started already, just to be safe lol

as for my brakes..to get the car home from like 100 miles away, i had to use the e-brake to stop while getting towed on a rope/chain by my friends GMC Sierra at like 6am in October, FROST on the windshield lol it was cold and hard to see..

I read somewhere that you shouldn't use teflon tape on the sensor because it needs a ground.

Pipe threads are an interference fit. Either the teflon tape was moved out of the way and the metal had direct contact, or the tape was smashed so thin in the threads that it didn't pose enough resistance to cause any problems.

And actually, it's possible (I don't know for sure either way) that T-Tape is electrically conductive.

i forgot to metion this, but i left a couple threads at the end of each sensor and plug without teflon..just so theres a slimmer chance of it breaking off and going through the oil filter/motor and so i get some sort of ground for the sensor.
